You’re going to go through many processes in your life.
Going from one grade to the next, from high school to college, from single to dating to married, from an apartment to a house, God will send you through a series of processes.
Why? To teach you things about yourself you may not have noticed, things He wants to refine to make you more like Him.
Our character shines through when we go through difficult processes. For me, God shined a huge light on my character and how much it still needs to be developed when He called me to move to another apartment and also to get my car’s oil changed.
The simple oil change turned into a $650 bill for some emergency repairs. Tack on the movers’ bill and, well, let’s just say I’m surprised Le Boyf didn’t break up with me because all I did was cry and complain, yell and scream about the situation I was in.
Through it all, though, the Lord (bless Him) was trying so hard to get me to calm down so He could teach me a few things.
A deep breath saves your sanity
When we stress out, we don’t breathe properly. A deep breath can do wonders in clearing your mind and slowing the heart rate so you can refocus.
Having people help you is okay
When you live to serve others, you tend to forget they live to serve others, too (including you). Let people help you when you’re going through a tough time. It’ll ease your stress, help you see you’re not struggling alone, and it’ll make them feel good about doing something nice for someone else.
Take care of yourself
Eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, and getting your full 8 hours do wonders for your state of mind. I wasn’t eating healthy, was dehydrated and didn’t have a good night’s sleep the night before my moving day so it was like Armageddon had descended into my life. Don’t let this happen to you!
This is just a season
Realize this is all temporary. The stress you face currently isn’t going to be there forever. When we go through a process, we can’t seem to see the end of it. But, things always get better. The sun always rises the next day and everything works out in its time. You may be in a process and this seems like an impossibly positive outlook, but having come out of a difficult process (emotional, spiritual and financial), I can tell you with confidence:
Even if you just have to complain to the Lord, get all of it out before Him so He can speak to you HIS truth about your situation. He led you to it. He’s leading you through it now. (Psalm 121:3)
Don’t bottle up emotion
A call to mom, a good cry for a couple nights back-to-back are a good thing. Get all your emotions out, all the tears and frustration. Once you get all those unnecessary emotions out, you can think clearly and move in the direction God’s wanting to lead you. You may feel like a toddler going through the process like that, but that’s why God calls us His children. He knows sometimes we just have to throw a tantrum so He can swoop in and soothe us back to having some sense.
What have you learned from going through your life processes? Let’s talk!
