2017: Working on My First Marriage, Health and More

There were great things that happened in 2016. The year flew by but there were moments of growth, challenge and lots of love.

Health took a back burner which was a bummer. But, I’m not beating myself up and instead am taking the brightness of a new year to refocus and get back to what makes me happy: eating well and feeling great.

Here are just a few things I’d like to see happen in the next 12 months:

Working on My First Marriage

I was going through some old journals and found a page that had some resolutions for 2014-2015. One of them was “Spend an hour with God a day”. That spoke to me deeply because I haven’t been doing that. It’s become more of a quick 5-minute devotion and church on Sundays. It’s not enough and I’m hungry. So, I want to reinstate this hour with Christ back into my life, expecting great things to come from this time spent at the feet of my Lord and Savior. A bit of relationship building if you will.

Eating Seasonal

This idea of eating foods that are in season (winter, spring, summer, fall) popped into my head after I signed up for Blue Apron. While Blue Apron was great, it was a ton of food for just little ol’ me so, instead, I’ve decided to do some research on seasonal produce and find recipes solely incorporating these ingredients. I thought it’d be a fun challenge and keep my taste buds excited and expectant each season!

Paying It Off

Finances got into its rhythm in 2016 and I’m super proud of seeing that I can stick to a plan. It’s time to take it up a notch, though, and do some serious saving! I’ve allotted a shopping spree for myself in June 2017 but in order to get to that point, I have a few small goals I’ve set to accomplish in order to enjoy that spree. Those things include paying off some debt, saving, and not spending on Starbucks and frivolous things.

Get Back Into the Stride

Oh, running, how I’ve missed you this past year! Some people loathe running, but I’ve found it clears the head and releases those lovely endorphins. Come springtime, I want to be eating super healthy and running a bit each day or a few times a week.

Take Care of My Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is a big one. 2017 is going to be all about my health so it’s time for me to bite the bullet and find an RA specialist. I’ve been apprehensive to go to a doctor because it seems all they want to do is put me on medicines instead of looking at natural cures, so if anyone in Nashville knows of an RA specialist who goes for organic/natural fixes first, hit me up.
