The 3 steps to change

If you’re looking to change your outlook, body, career, location, etc. I know of three full-proof things you should do to bring about successful change:

Pray

“…in every situation, through prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, submit your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Before you DO anything, stop and pray. If you feel a stirring of a new endeavor, idea or new city, take it to the Lord. After all, He knows the plans He has for you. He knows what is best. Ask Him for guidance and He will give it. Give your plans, your dreams, your desires to the Lord and, in turn, He will give you so much more than what you ever thought possible; simply because, God Almighty takes what seems impossible and makes it possible.

Plan

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9

After you pray, plan. Write out a plan for what you’d like to see happen. If you’ve prayed, the Lord will lead you in the right direction. Continue praying even as you plan! The Lord has a way of guiding you even as you write out your goals, your plan, the steps you’d like to take to achieve your successful change.

Pursue

“Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Hebrews 12:1

Once you have the plan in place, pursue that plan with all you have until that goal is accomplished. Focus is key; and, you’ll learn a lot about yourself in terms of how you easily you can become distracted, how hard you have to work to keep yourself encouraged and strong in pursuit, who you need around you to keep you grounded and going. While you chase a dream, you learn so much about yourself in the process, which is the most important thing overall.

What is your process when you have a goal/dream/change you want to accomplish?
