All for love

It’s that holiday where expectations are raised or, if you’re single, it’s dreaded.

Valentine’s Day.

My advice from 25 years of single Valentine’s Days?

Stay off social media if your heart is fragile right now.

I view VD as just another day and am genuinely happy for the girls who get flowers, chocolate (lookin’ at you, day after Valentine’s Day candy sale!), jewelry, balloons, stuffed animals, whatever. Good for you, girl. Revel in that sweet gesture and be blessed by your man.

However, I am also aware that it can be a painful time (like most holidays) for others who might have found love and then lost it or have never found it. This day has a knack for making us question our abilities to find love.

And that’s okay.

Many think you should always respond in happiness when another is experiencing love, but the reality is, sometimes it sucks. You don’t mean to come off as selfish or complaining. You’re just in the waiting room and many times it’s frustrating, especially on days like this.

Trust me, I get it.

But can I just tell you, it’s okay if you feel unhappy?

It’s okay if you feel lonely tomorrow.

It’s okay if you feel frustrated with waiting.

It’s okay if you feel tired of waiting.

It’s okay if you ask God when your girl or guy is coming into your life.

It’s okay if you yell at God about it. He’s God Almighty. He can certainly handle your questions (and your yelling).

It’s okay to feel a little jealous, even.

Be human.

Be real.

Get all those emotions out, shed some tears if need be. Recognize them quickly so you can deal with them quickly and move on to a better you.

And when you’re ready to put those feelings aside, realize God Almighty, the creator of the heavens and the earth, loves you.

He cares about you.

He has a plan and purpose for you, and He KNOWS the desires of your heart.

He knows every single hair on your head.

Think about it: God sent His ONLY son Jesus to die for you and raised Him back to life, defeating death and giving you the ultimate gift of eternal life.

His love for you is vast.

Rest in HIS love today, tomorrow and the many days after that.

I love you all.
