The God of the hills and the valleys

“The man of God came up and told the king of Israel, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Because the Arameans think the LORD is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the LORD.'”
1 Kings 20:28

Friend, where are you in your stage of life? Are you on the hill or are you in the valley?

Are you standing on a hill where everything is going fabulously in all areas of your life? Are you at your dream job, making money, loving your friends and community, and feel blessed and prosperous?

Are you in a valley where you don’t know how but the bills are paid? Are you struggling to feed your kids? Have you just gotten out of a relationship where you thought it was headed to forever? Have you lost your job? Have you lost a loved one and now your whole life seems to be ripped apart, the red carpet you were walking on ripped right underneath you?

Here on Posibody, the point is to be a constant pipeline of encouragement. But I cannot fully encourage without acknowledging the Truth.

And the truth is this:

God Almighty: the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God who sent Jesus Christ to die for your sins and mine, giving us eternal reconciliation with God, it is He who is the God of the hills when everything is going wonderfully and the God of the valleys when life seems dark and unfulfilling.

He is here with you, right now, right where you are, as you read this post.

In 1 Kings, the Arameans thought the Lord was only with the Israelites when things were great, when they were winning all the time. How foolish they were to think God would abandon His people when they were in the valley, when they were weak.

The same goes for God Almighty today.

I pray you never think the Lord has left you because you are struggling, you messed up, you showed you were human for a moment.

God Almighty never leaves you. He never abandons you. He is the God of the hills and the valleys.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

Be encouraged today, friend.
